There are many thousands of SAP ERP customers worldwide. However, if a SAP ERP installation exists within a particular Country and the Ultimate parent is from another Country you cannot be sure you are targeting the correct decision makers where actual investment is made.
How can you be sure to buy the correct SAP customer list where these decisions are made and not target subsidiaries where no real local spending decisions are taken? This is a dilemma many of our customers face when buying lists from one of more Countries to undertake targeted marketing campaigns.
This is not to say you shouldn't approach the "drop-ins" or subsidiaries/branches of companies that are not parented in the country you are approaching them in but at least you would be able to prioritize your segmentation and marketing in the best place first.

Focusing upon where the Ultimate parent is located will give some clue as to where the purchasing power exists and therefore marketing and sales activity can be prioritized. This ensures you are not wasting valuable resources targeting sites where no purchasing power exists.
Looking at the UK the table below demonstrates exactly how many of the total SAP UK customer base is UK parented and how many are from outside the UK, There is a significant difference in numbers and if you look to purchase just the UK HQ customers you will save around 50-60% of you marketing and sales efforts getting to the right purchasing points.

If we look at the European and North American SAP ERP installations you can see by the table below the % of customers who have a parent in a localized installation (where the parent and ultimately decision makers are based and budgets are allocated) compared with those "drop-ins" whose ultimate parent is based in another Country can be around 30-40% of the total customer base.
So potentially this could initially save you 50-60% of your marketing budget which could be ineffective as the decision makers would be based in the country of the Ultimate parent company.
